Oscar Munoz

Oscar Munoz
Chief Executive Officer, United Airlines

Oscar Munoz is chief executive officer of United Airlines. He brings to this position deep and broad experience in both the transportation industry and large consumer brands.

Previously, Oscar served as president and chief operating officer of CSX Corporation, a premier freight transportation company. He also served as a director at CSX. During his tenure, CSX transformed itself into an industry leader in customer focus, reliability and financial performance. CSX was named one of Institutional Investor’s Most Honored Companies for a decade of excellent financial performance, including increasing its operating income by nearly 600%.

Additionally, Oscar served in various financial and strategic capacities at some of the world’s most recognized consumer brands, including AT&T, Coca-Cola Enterprises, and PepsiCo. Before joining CSX, Oscar held the position of chief financial officer and vice president of consumer services at AT&T Corporation. Prior to joining AT&T, he served as senior vice president of finance and administration for U.S. West, regional vice president of finance and administration for Coca-Cola Enterprises and held various financial positions at PepsiCo.

Oscar has served on the board of directors for United Continental Holdings, Inc. since 2010 and served on the board of directors of Continental Airlines, Inc. since 2004. He is active in several industry coalitions and philanthropic and educational organizations including the University of North Florida’s Board of Trustees and the PAFA advisory board of Vanderbilt University.

Oscar graduated from the University of Southern California with a B.S. in business administration, and he received an MBA from Pepperdine University. He has been named one of the “100 Most Influential Hispanics” by Hispanic Business magazine. He is married and has four children.

Carolyn Corvi

Carolyn Corvi
Retired Vice President and General Manager – Airplane Programs, Boeing

Ms. Corvi served as Vice President and General Manager – Airplane Programs, Boeing Commercial Airplanes, a leading aerospace company. In her 34 years at Boeing, Ms. Corvi served in various management positions, including Vice President and General Manager of 737/757 Programs and Vice President of Aircraft Systems and Interiors, among other roles. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Goodrich Corporation.

Jane C. Garvey

Jane C. Garvey
North America Chairman, Meridiam

Ms. Jane Garvey is North America Chairman of Meridiam, a PPP development and investment firm focused on greenfield opportunities in transportation, water and social infrastructure. Prior to assuming this position in 2009, Ms. Garvey served on the Transition Team for President Barack Obama. Prior to that, she headed the US Public/Private Partnerships at JPMorgan, advising states on financing strategies for state governments. Garvey served as the 14th Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and currently serves on the Board of Directors and is Chairman of the BiPartisan Policy Project.

Barney Harford

Barney Harford
Former Chief Executive Officer of Orbitz Worldwide

Barney served as CEO and board director of Orbitz Worldwide from 2009 to 2015. In 2015 Orbitz Worldwide was acquired by Expedia, Inc. (NASDAQ: EXPE) in a $1.6B cash transaction. In the year prior to its sale, Orbitz Worldwide generated more than US$12 billion in annual gross bookings. During Barney’s tenure the company achieved strategic success in mobile, developing award-winning apps for iOS and Android; launched Orbitz Rewards, a simple and free loyalty program that offer traveler instant rewards; and built the Orbitz Partner Network into a leading provider of private label travel solutions to partners in the airline, hotel, travel agency and bank loyalty industries. 

Prior to Orbitz Worldwide, Barney served in a variety of roles at Expedia, Inc. from 1999 to 2006 including as President of Expedia Asia Pacific from 2004 to 2006, leading the company’s entry into China, Japan and Australia. Prior to Expedia, Barney worked in the United Kingdom as a strategy consultant with The Kalchas Group.

In addition to his service as a board director of United Continental Holdings, Barney also serves as non-executive chairman of the board of directors of Lola, a chat-based travel planning service that offers customers personalized recommendations for hotels, flights and more, and as a board director of LiquidPlanner, a dynamic project management solution for technology teams.

Barney previously served as a board director of eLong, Crystal Orange Hotel Group (formerly Mandarin Hotel Holdings) and GlobalEnglish.

Barney holds an MBA from INSEAD and a Master of Arts in Natural Sciences from Clare College, Cambridge University.


Captain Todd M. Insler

Captain Todd M. Insler
Master Executive Council Chairman, Air Line Pilots Association

Captain Insler is the representative of the United Airlines Pilots’ Master Executive Council (“UALMEC”) to the UAL Board, effective March 2016. Captain Insler was elected the Chairman of the UALMEC of the Air Line Pilots Association, International in January 2016, in which capacity he leads the representation of United’s more than 12,000 professional aviators. Captain Insler previously held numerous leadership positions within the Air Line Pilots Association, including as chairman of the UALMEC Grievance Committee, member of the United Pilots’ System Board of Adjustment, and member of the ALPA National Information Technology Advisory Committee. Captain Insler is currently a Boeing 767 pilot based in New York City for United Airlines.

Walter Isaacson

Mr. Isaacson is the President and Chief Executive Officer of The Aspen Institute, an international education and policy studies institute. Mr. Isaacson previously served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CNN from 2001 to 2003 and as the Editor of Time Magazine from 1994 to 2001. He is the author of biographies of Benjamin Franklin and Albert Einstein.

James A. C. Kennedy

James A. C. Kennedy
Former President and Chief Executive Officer of T. Rowe Price Group, Inc.

James Kennedy, 62, is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of T. Rowe Price Group, Inc., a global investment management organization which provides mutual funds, sub-advisory services, and separate account management. During his tenure, T. Rowe more than doubled its assets under management, which increased from $335 billion at the end of 2006 to $763 billion as of December 31, 2015. Prior to his appointment as President and Chief Executive Officer in 2006, Mr. Kennedy served in roles of increasing responsibility at T. Rowe since 1978, including VP & Director of the Equity Research Division beginning in 1997. He has been a director of T. Rowe since 1987. Prior to joining T. Rowe, Mr. Kennedy participated in the Financial Management training Program at General Electric. He graduated from Princeton University with a BA degree and Stanford University with an MBA. He is a recipient of the Stanford University Graduate School of Business Excellence in Leadership Award.

Robert A. Milton

Robert Milton, 55, was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ACE Aviation Holdings Inc., and was Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Air Canada. Having joined Air Canada in 1992 in a consulting capacity, Mr. Milton moved from the role of Senior Director of Scheduling to Vice President, Scheduling and Product Management, Senior Vice President, Marketing and In-Flight Service and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Milton became President and Chief Executive Officer of Air Canada in 1999. He is currently the lead director of Air Lease Corporation, a director of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, and a trustee of the Georgia Tech Foundation Inc. Mr. Milton was a past director of US Airways, Inc., and was also a past Chairman of the Board of Governors of IATA (The International Air Transport Association). Mr. Milton graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a BS in Industrial Management.

William R. Nuti

Mr. Nuti is Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of NCR Corporation, the global leader in consumer transaction technologies. Prior to his current role, Mr. Nuti served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Symbol Technologies, Inc. Prior to Symbol Technologies, Inc., Mr. Nuti served in the dual role of Senior Vice President of Worldwide Service Provider Operations and Senior Vice President of U.S. Theater Operations at Cisco Systems, Inc. Mr. Nuti is a member of the Georgia Institute of Technology advisory board and a Long Island University trustee.

Sito Pantoja

General Vice President Transportation Department, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers

Sito Pantoja is the representative of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (“IAM”) to the UAL Board effective March, 2016. Mr. Pantoja has served as the IAM General Vice President to the Transportation Department since January 2012. The Transportation Department operates from IAM Headquarters and administers contracts in the railroad and air transport sectors in the United States.

Mr. Pantoja was appointed as the IAM’s representative to the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Rulemaking Advisory Committee (ARAC), which provides advice and recommendations to the FAA on rulemaking activity, such as aircraft operations, airman and air agency certification and airworthiness standards. In 2014, Mr. Pantoja was appointed to the IAM National Pension Fund’s (IAMNPF) Board of Trustees.

Edward M. Philip

Chief Operating Officer of Partners in Health

Edward M. Philip, 51, has served as the Chief Operating Officer of Partners in Health (a global non-profit healthcare  organization) since January 2013. Mr. Philip is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Partners in Health projects globally including in countries such as Liberia, Sierra Leone, Rwanda and Haiti. Previously he served as Managing General Partner at Highland Consumer Fund (a consumer oriented investment fund) from 2006 to 2013. In 1995, Mr. Philip joined Lycos, Inc. (an Internet service provider and search company) as one of its founding members. During his time with Lycos, Mr. Philip held the positions of President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer at different times. Prior to joining Lycos, Mr. Philip spent time as the Vice President of Finance for The Walt Disney Company, and prior thereto Mr. Philip spent a number of years in investment banking.  He is a director of Hasbro, Inc. and BRP Inc. Mr. Philip received a BS in Economics and Mathematics from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Edward L. Shapiro

Edward Shapiro, 51, is currently a Partner and Vice President at PAR Capital Management, Inc., a Boston-based investment management firm specializing in investments in travel, media and Internet-related companies. Prior to joining PAR Capital in 1997, Mr. Shapiro was a Vice President at Wellington Management Company, and before that an Analyst at Morgan Stanley & Co. Mr. Shapiro also serves as Chairman of the Boards of Global Eagle Entertainment (NASDAQ:ENT) and Lumexis Corporation, and a director of Sonifi Solutions. He also serves on the nonprofit boards of the Boston Children’s Hospital Trust, The Undergraduate Executive Board of the Wharton School, Combined Jewish Philanthropies, The Rashi School, and Social Finance. He previously served on the board of US Airways from 2005-2008 and Web.com (NASDAQ: WEB, formerly Interland, Inc.). Mr. Shapiro earned his Bachelor of Science degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and an MBA from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management.

James Whitehurst, 48, is President and Chief Executive Officer of Red Hat, Inc., a leading provider of open source enterprise IT products and services. Since joining Red Hat in January 2008, he has more than tripled the company’s revenue from $523 million to $1.8 billion, while more than tripling the company’s stock price. Under his leadership, Red Hat was named to Forbes’ list of “The World’s Most Innovative Companies” in 2015, 2014, and 2012; added to Standard and Poor’s 500 stock index in 2009; and named one of the best places to work by Glassdoor in 2014. Prior to Red Hat, Mr. Whitehurst spent six years at Delta Air Lines, Inc., where he managed airline operations and drove significant international expansion as Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Whitehurst helped put the company back on firm footing as it emerged from bankruptcy in 2007. Before Delta, he held several corporate development leadership roles at The Boston Consulting Group, with clients across a wide range of industries. Mr. Whitehurst currently serves on the Board of DigitalGlobe, Inc. In June 2015, Whitehurst published a book with Harvard Business Review Press entitled "The Open Organization: Igniting Passion and Performance" showing how open principles of management, based on transparency, participation, and community, can help organizations navigate and succeed in a fast-paced connected era. He is a graduate of Rice University with a BA in Computer Science and has an MBA from Harvard Business School.
